The airport precinct is home to the Tairāwhiti Aviation Museum, which has a wide range of vintage aircraft, interesting machinery and displays, kids’ activities, and a collection of paintings and models by legendary Gisborne artist Graeme Mudge.
The museum is run by the Gisborne Aviation Preservation Society, a group of volunteers with a passion for all things aeronautical.

Usually open Tuesday 9am - 3pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm.
The team is happy to open the museum at other times and take groups through, by prior arrangement.
Wings and Wheels event
Take a trip down memory lane and watch the Wings & Wheels event, organised by the Gisborne Aviation Preservation Society, NZ Rolls Royce and Bentley Club, and Eastland Group. The event was held here at Gisborne Airport in 2017.
